Thought for the Week: Living in the Present
I was fortunate enough to recently go on a transatlantic cruise from Southampton to Rio de Janeiro last October. I was so focused on getting to Rio and seeing Christ the Redeemer that I hadn’t even researched
any of the other stops along the way. It was going to take 16 days to get there and we had 6 ports of call as well as magical Rio.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a methodical planner and am definitely not spontaneous. So I had our 3 days at the end of the cruise meticulously planned out to the last detail and couldn’t wait to get there to see the huge statue.
Before then, we got to Lisbon and saw a baby Christ the Redeemer. Which was just as beautiful. So I learnt that instead of focusing on the big things, perhaps I should look around me in my day-to-day life and look at the small things where I can find just as much beauty and they can bring just as much pleasure too.
“You direct me on a path that leads to a beautiful life. As I walk with you, the pleasures are never-ending and I know true joy and contentment”. Psalm 16v11 Passion Translation.
