Covid has been a testing time for all of us. Some have died, some are long term sick, many of us have had it and recovered and some of us have never had it. It has affected us all in our relationships and activities.
The Woking Community Play Association have written a play based on people’s experiences under Covid and the Spanish flu at the end of World War One. Researching the archives of the periods has shown many similarities between the two times. We have taken some of these stories and woven them into a play that we hope will speak to us all on what we have been through in the last three years and what our ancestors went through. The play concentrates on Woking’s story during the two periods.
The play will be performed as a play reading at the Surrey History Centre on Saturday 18 March from 2.00pm - 4.00pm. Testing Times: Stories from Woking under Influenza and Covid.
