Thought for the Week: Going through the Motions

January always seems such a long, dull, dreary month.  The excitement of Christmas is over and we've taken down the decorations and sparkly lights.  Now there is nothing to look forward to.  Those of us who have made New Years' Resolutions have probably already broken them and the promise of healthy eating and more exercise is long forgotten as we are still lounging on the sofa watching Netflix, escaping the cold, eating up all the leftover cheese and chocolates.

.And don't the chores seem endless? How dare they interrupt the binge watching and eating!  As soon as you've finished one job, you are faced with another.  You clean the kitchen, go on to hoover, do the bathrooms, the ironing needs doing, change the sheets, dust and then the dishwasher needs emptying and reloading.  Not to mention the laundry...the list is endless.

And then I came across this verse in a daily devotional recently:  "First wash the inside of the cup and the dish, and then the outside will become clean, too." Matthew 23v26

Hmmm, wise words.  Now, if only I could love doing housework.
