Thought for the Week: Mustard Seed

Every time I see a seed in wholegrain mustard I am amazed at what this tiny thing can do. And then that teaspoon of teeny tiny mustard seeds turn a bland white sauce into something tasty too.

And whilst I'm stirring my roux with my heart in my mouth, I have to have faith that the lumpy, floury butter will turn into the perfect white béchamel sauce.

I'm reminded once again of Matthew 17:20 "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

One tiny mustard seed can produce a plant which is 5 feet tall. So we just need to have a tiny bit of faith to produce spectacular results.
