30 people of various faiths joined to listen to Keith talk about how he uses his faith in everyday life.
Keith has been a Quaker since his 20s and is a retired librarian. He was clerk of the Quaker Surrey and Hampshire Border Elders and overseers for seven years and is currently assistant clerk of the Area Meeting. He is currently the Quaker prison chaplain at Coldingley Prison . He has chaired the Woking Debates since they started 11 years ago and he also chairs Woking Action for Peace as well as being the Chair and Treasurer of Woking Community Play Association. Keith serves as the Treasurer of the Week of Prayer for World Peace and not forgetting he is a Trustee of Woking People of Faith. Five years ago he was an Ecumenical Accompanier for Peace in Palestine and Israel for three months and last September he co-led a Quaker group out to Israel. He also runs a book group and is a Street Angel in Woking.
Keith's favourite poem is from a Jewish Quaker, Harvey Gilman, called Questions. He explained that the Quaker meeting places are very plain as they believe all places are holy. Religious Society of Friends is the official name of the Quakers. Woking Debates came out of a meeting but he can't say if it is a result of a divine message but perhaps a gentle faith awareness in trying to work out what is the right thing to do with the power within him.
Faith In Action ... A Conversation With ... is a series of conversations with real people. These are interfaith conversations run by WPoF where individuals talk about their own faith and how it works out in practice in their everyday lives.
WPoF is supported by WBC.
