16 people joined our Zoom Pancake cookalong, where we made pancakes in our own kitchens. We all made the pancakes together and one family showed us how to make a vegan version. Meeta, who is of the Hindu faith explained that it was the anniversary of the birth of the Goddess of learning, wisdom and knowledge. Because that Goddess wears a yellow sari, Meeta then showed us how to make a pancake from chickpea flour, adding turmeric, which turns the pancake yellow. We each finished our pancakes with a pre-prepared topping of our choice which ranged from vegetarian tex-mex, maple syrup, olives and ham, Nutella, chili chutney and traditional lemon and sugar. We closed the session by eating together, chatting and getting to know a bit more about one another. We all agreed that it was an enjoyable session and we look forward to the next cookalong.
