Woking People of Faith is more than an interfaith forum — it's a vibrant platform that brings people together, breaks down barriers, and nurtures understanding among diverse communities. Through meaningful events and initiatives, we aim to create a harmonious society where everyone, regardless of their background or beliefs, can connect, grow, and thrive.
But we need your help to keep this essential work going.
Our activities are as varied as the people we bring together:
Sports as a Bridge: Cricket matches where players from different faiths and backgrounds come together for a fun and unifying experience. In our most recent game, 22 players and 30 spectators participated, highlighting the power of sports to connect people.
Music to Break Barriers: We organise musical evenings showcasing the beautiful styles of music used within seven different faiths and cultures. Last year, over 120 people attended, enjoying performances that sparked connections and challenged prejudices.
Peace Events for Young Minds: Our peace-themed events engage school children from various backgrounds to reflect on peace through art and writing. This inspiring initiative has grown from five participating schools to seven, with over 97 attendees at our most recent event.
Environmental Responsibility: We run conservation activities to protect endangered species and diversify wildlife in local commons, demonstrating our commitment to caring for the environment.
Women's Coffee Mornings: Understanding that some women feel more comfortable in women-only spaces, we host coffee mornings to provide a safe and welcoming space for women of different faiths to connect. This year, 30 women from two faith backgrounds attended; next year, we aim for 45 women from five different faiths.
These events do more than entertain — they transform hearts and minds. From helping young people challenge prejudice through thought-provoking talks to engaging the community in conservation work, we are making a lasting impact.
