People of Faith stand together in Woking for Peace

People of all faiths in Woking gathered in the town square on the anniversary of 9/11 to affirm peace.  The Mayor and local councillors joined the Bishop of Guildford, and the Head Imam's of Woking's Shia and Sunni mosques in sharing peace with people of all faiths present.  The Chairperson of Woking People of Faith, Canon Richard Cook, read a statement written jointly by faith leaders in Woking and then the gathering observed two minutes silence in memory of all victims of violence carried out in the name of religion.  Balloons were distributed and then released together as a mark of the gathering's joint commitment to living and working in harmony together, and as a mark of the hope for a better future. (for the statement , pictures and more detail please see Events and Activities, 9/11 Ten years on )
